The GLOW UP Plan

After a few months of hard work and personal challenges, a vacation was in order. My mind and body needed a break — a reset, an up-level, a time of rest and healing. For nearly 2 months, I began saving and planning a personal staycation full of yoga, wellness practices, relaxation, free time, down time, and spa services.

The intention is/was to create a spacious container to be and do what my mind, body, and heart desire. Remember all that time we had during the pandemic? Did you feel you used the time on what you actually wanted? Well, I didn’t. I worked through much of that time. With this paid vacation off from work, I wanted to be in the comforts of home (not traveling) doing all my favorite self-care things.

What started as a one-week, curated yoga retreat at home extended to a healthful two-week GLOW UP to instill and reinforce lifelong habits. Over nine paid days off with four regular off days, the plan is to complete the following activities:

  • 100% commitment of my strength training program with Sweat With Abby, my online fitness & nutrition coach, based in the four pillars of health:

    • Nutrition (& hydration): balanced meals + 90-120oz+ of water per day

    • Movement: 3x strength workouts per week, 2x low intensity steady state cardio/walks, 1x core workout

    • Sleep: 7+ hours of sleep per night

    • Stress Management: I personally practice Ziva Meditation 2x per day (mindfulness, meditation, gratitude, and manifestation) and practice yoga asana + philosophy

  • 2-3x yoga classes per week at Vibe Yoga (assortment of classes) with a 1-month unlimited membership for $139

  • Three spa treatments: an 80-minute massage, an 80-min facial, and a 110-minute Renew & Restore body treatment

  • Listen to an affirmations playlists daily (I purchased from Roxie Nafousi, but many free versions on You Tube)

  • Read for personal development in the morning and a fun book by night; currently reading The Four Agreements, Manifest via Audible, and ACOTAR

  • Get my body trained to wake up at 4AM everyday to train, do yoga, or any personal development practice (read, manifestations, meditations)

  • Doctor and dentist checkups

  • Teeth whitening

  • Spring cleaning; reorganize closet and donate items no longer used

  • Review 401K contributions

  • Finally re-start this blog

  • Family time — spend time with kids and parents

  • Unwind and have some fun! I’m normally wound up tight and take everything seriously. Not everything is in my control and I’m learning to accept things as they are.

This time is a true privilege which I am so grateful for. Let’s jumpstart feeling good inside and out!
